I worked with Alan many times when he was with TXDot here in Austin. We spent many weeks in
the field together and I was privileged to be at his and Kerynn's wedding. Alan left the department
just ten days before I retired and I remember we had a good laugh about him leaving first. It was a
good move for him and he really enjoyed his new job with the Guard.
The last time I saw him was at this late wife's memorial which was held at my home church. It was
a few weeks after her death and he looked very tired and drawn but assured us all that he was well.
He was one of the most likable, intelligent, and courageous people I had the good fortune to work
with. I'll miss him terribly.
